Holden, Missouri: Miller Mausoleum: Castle-Like Tomb
A solitary, multi-story cement burial structure built between 1916 and 1934 by devoutly religious Joseph M. Miller, a local teacher and farmer. The mausoleum features a turret and dome, and space for a museum and Biblical images. All of its bodies were removed in 2017.

This mausoleum was constructed from reinforced concrete in the years 1917-1927 by a man who feared having his remains buried in the wet ground. He built the elaborate mausoleum despite having no professional trade skills in construction.
