Statue of Arnold Schwarzenegger
One of Columbus' more embarrassing landmarks...
[Kylie, 07/27/2012]In 1970, Arnold Schwarzenegger won the body-building title of "Mr. World" at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio. In 2012, Arnold returned to Veterans Memorial, now remodeled as an event center, and unveiled an 8-foot-tall, 600 pound bronze statue of himself -- an exact copy of a statue installed only a couple of months earlier at the Schwarzenegger Museum in Austria. It depicts Arnold at the bulky apex of his body-building career, every muscle defined, biceps bulging, and in tiny tights as he flexes for the traffic driving past on US 40.
