Pigeon Forge, Tennessee: Alcatraz East

America's most comprehensive museum of crime. Bonnie and Clyde's movie Death Car, OJ's low-speed chase Bronco, Tennessee's electric chair, plus serial killer relics and a hands-on CSI lab. Exterior is an ominous-looking fake prison.

Mind-boggling collection includes several of John Wayne Gacy's paintings and his wallet, in addition to the notorious clown costumes. They also have Charles Manson's guitar, Ted Bundy's VW beetle, YES, this is THE O.J. Bronco, and the car used in the death scene of the Warren Beatty/Faye Dunaway Bonnie and Clyde movie (artifacts from the actual death car are upstairs).

At the desk, they stop selling tickets an hour before close and warn people coming in that it could take two hours or more to go through the whole thing. Also a bit pricey (worth it) and card-only, no cash, although you can come up with coupons pretty easily from the tourist pamphlets.

There is an open-air jail cell photo op a short distance from the museum, around the corner in front of the Margaritaville restaurant.

Alcatraz East was so much fun. Took us 2-1/2 hours to go through. No problems parking.
