Mr. P.G., 27-Foot-Tall Log Man
Prince George, British Columbia
Built in 1983, this Mr. P.G. replaces an earlier Mr. P.G., unveiled on May 8, 1960, as a parade float salute to the lumber industry. He looks identical -- like a Reddy Kilowatt made of logs -- but at 27 feet tall he's actually 13 feet shorter than his predecessor, who eventually rotted.
Mr. P.G.'s arms and body are made of simulated lumber, with a round, cartoon head and another log as a Pinocchio-esque nose. At various times he has sported a monocle, at others his head has been painted blue. He wears a lumberjack's hard hat and holds a Canadian flag.
