Muffler Man - Indian
Crystal Lake, Illinois
A serious-faced Indian brave muffler man waves a friendly "how" at customers stopping at The Greenhouse of Crystal Lake. He's one of a pair of Muffler Men -- the other is a Paul Bunyan -- that weathered the closing of Ozzie's water park, and somehow ended up here.
When we saw the Indian at Ozzies, the crease on his pants and muscles on his chest and arms had been carefully articulated in brown airbrush paint. In the mellower atmosphere of the garden center, he's been painted in a more subdued fashion, with mustard vomit yellow pants.
Neither of the Muffler Men statues have feet, which is unusual. In the case of the Indian, his handicap is hidden among rows of flowers.
