Oconomowoc, Wisconsin: Yellow Brick Road Begins

The swirly start of the Road, along with life-size color statues of all the main characters. Oconomowoc was one of the first towns to screen the "Wizard of Oz" movie in 1939.

Kinda neat to see all of the characters. The coffee shop across the street offers Oz-themed coffees.

Wicked Witch.

Don't panic if there's no street parking -- there is ample parking behind the row of buildings. The Wizard is next to the monument in front, and the Wicked Witch is behind Dorothy and company, facing away from them.

Across the street is a cute building that says KILLER ANTIQUES in big red letters. Unfortunately, they were closed and I didn't get to learn more.

There is a full-sized replica of the beginning spiral of the Yellow Brick Road from the Wizard of Oz movie, along with life-size figures of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Wicked Witch, the Wizard and even Toto. Oconomowoc was the location of one of the very first preview showings of the Wizard of Oz movie in August 1939.

The Road and statues were unveiled in 2019, to mark the 80th anniversary of the film's debut in Oconomowoc.
