La Crosse, Wisconsin: Terrifying Blue Baby (Gone)
Officially named "Hatched Baby." Nine feet tall, with a full set of teeth, dark blue skin, emerging from a big cracked egg. The sculpture expressed artist Wolfgang Auer's anxieties with parenthood. Destroyed by vandals Sep. 12, 2021.

Went to check out other sculptures in the area. In August 2018 the baby is definitely still there in all of its horrifying glory.

It's hideous alright. The stuff that nightmares are made of, a bad acid trip and a vision of hell. There is a parking lot nearby so you can get up close for photo-ops.

[Katie, 03/01/2016]The oxygen-deprived "Hatched Baby," sculpted by German artist Wolfgang Auer, was installed Oct. 2015, in Hamilton, Ohio -- part of a year-long visit. Some people in Hamilton really don't like it, so visit sooner rather than later. It will be gone after September 2016.
