From 1998 to 2023 you could push a button next to the Polka Escalator to hear foot-tapping favorites while ascending or descending past a wall of photos of polka fans.

Getting ready to polka up the escalator. Watch out for the old guy guarding the hallway. Seeing the world's only polka escalator is not a good enough reason to be in the convention center, apparently.

[Adventures Of Cluckleberry Hen, 08/19/2017]The Polka Escalator is only off-limits because of the construction. When the construction work is finished later this year, the Polka Escalator will reopen.

The polka music was turned off during our visit. Hopefully it will be back on next time!

The polka escalator is kaput. Artist Dick Blau, who in 1998 created the "Polka Time!" push-button escalator, said that it was being ripped out as part of a building renovation.
