Bill Shea's museum for Route 66 travelers who wanted to learn about the gas stations that pumped gas into the cars of previous Route 66 travelers. Bill died on December 14, 2013. His family sold off the museum's contents in 2015. But Shea's Gas Station Museum nevertheless reopened on May 20, 2024.

After being elected to the Route 66 Hall of Fame, and continuing his legacy with his gas station museum, Mr. Shea passed away on December 15, 2013.

Bill was a few weeks' shy of 92. He had opened his museum, haphazardly at first, in 1994, and it grew in popularity with the regrowth of Route 66.
