Museum of Root Beer
Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
"Root beer unites us in its diversity," claims this museum, and its gift shop sells "artisanal" root beer brands to prove it.
With corrugated iron walls and a drop ceiling reminiscent of a 1970s classroom, this place has a decor mostly consisting of shelf upon shelf of bottles and cans of root beer.
Highlights include a "Root Beer Mascots" wall mural that's informative as well as an engaging photo-op; a wall-mounted "Hall of Foam" that pays tribute to museum contributors; and a trippy "Root Beer Stands" display that consists of a disembodied car door with an attached food tray, set in front of period photos of 1960s hamburger drive-ins.
