Castlerock Arms and Armor Museum
Alma, Wisconsin
The Midwest's most complete collection of arms and armor is displayed in the tiny, out-of-the-way town of Alma, in a specially-designed castle-like building with crenellated walls. Opened in 2011, Castlerock Museum is the life's work of Wisconsin Judge Gary B. Schlosstein. Hundreds of pieces are displayed among art reproductions that show their use in battle.
Highlights include a Viking chieftain's sword, King Henry VIII's gun shield, and the gold inlaid boar spear of August the Strong.
