Nike Missile
Bonne Terre, Missouri
An array of weapons positioned at the parking lot entrance of VFW hall 6883 assure that Bonne Terrans can still defend their freedom. The Nike-Ajax missile dates from the 1950s-60s, when hundreds of them were deployed in defensive rings around American cities to ward off Soviet bombers. The solid-fuel rocket had a range of 17,000 feet. The patriotic paint job was not part of the original ballistic design.
Also ready for the action of the deactivated: an M-41 Walker Bulldog Tank. An M-8 Pack Howitzer zeroes in on a pack of giant fiberglass animals down the street.
