George Bush Was In Our Parade
Marshfield, Missouri
Why is there a large Presidential Seal on the outdoor mural commemorating Marshfield's 130th birthday?
Because President H. W. Bush (#41) rode in the Marshfield July 4th parade in 1991, "the longest-running Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi." The mural works in Route 66, local historic buildings, and the Hubble space telescope (there's also a nice replica in front of the courthouse).
The historic Bush appearance is further remembered in another mural inside the county courthouse, which offers a display of local history newspaper clippings on hanging panels that visitors can flip through.
