North Louisiana Military Museum
Ruston, Louisiana
Probably one of the most densely-packed museums anywhere, it displays a collection assembled over decades by the museum's dedicated curator-director, Ernie Stevens, who also designed all of the exhibits. Louisiana's Secretary of State said there were more artifacts in this museum than any other in the state -- and it isn't a very large museum, space-wise. It includes tanks, helicopters, howitzers, Nazi uniforms, artifacts from the U.S. High School Victory Corps, a complete collection of all 52 medals awarded by the South Vietnamese government. "A $10,000 facility with more than $1 million in artifacts." "All weapons are inoperable for your safety." Open since 1995.
