Carrier USS Hornet, Prints of Moon Men
Alameda, California
The historic aircraft carrier USS Hornet is permanently berthed in Alameda, and became a museum in 1998. A superstar vessel of the US Navy, the Hornet saw action throughout the Pacific Theater during World War II, held back the Communists during the Vietnam War, and harried the enemy at a variety of smaller skirmishes.
In 1969, the Hornet picked up first lunar tourists Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, returning from their Apollo 11 mission. The astronauts were sealed inside a quarantine chamber aboard the ship, to contain space germs and deadly alien viruses.
The ship is reported to be haunted.
