The perpetrators of this horrific act of violence were never caught. There is a theory (via Wikipedia) that this bombing was carried out by an Italian faction of anarchists in act of revenge for the arrest of two other Italian anarchists. However, this was never proven. It is fascinating to see the remnant marks of this terrible event etched into the sides of the JP Morgan building.
