The Confederacy: Secession Succeeds As Tourist Draw
The State of Georgia has reacquired the 13-acre site in Irwinville, GA, where Confederate President Jefferson Davis was captured by Union forces on May 10, 1865. It will be promoted as a tourist attraction, officials say.
In an unrelated incident this week, Governor James of Alabama said he had no plans to put the Confederate battle flag back on the state Capitol dome. His statement, delivered by an aide, was made after James said on a radio talk show that it had been a mistake for his predecessor, Governor Folsom, to take the flag down.
